The Bergamo team overtook Inter in the standings and stretched its long streak of 9 consecutive wins.
Atalanta 2-0 to Sampdoria for the 31st day of the A series and momentarily overtook Inter in the standings. Those led by Gian Piero Gasperini were effective from the stopped ball and from this they got the three points with the goals of Rafael Toloi and Luis Muriel.
The first half had a parity between the two. The Samp had Manolo Gabbiadini who created spaces for his teammates to put the local goalkeeper in danger. However, they were not precise and their clearest chance was a powerful long shot from the forward that forced Gollini.
Gasperini’s team found a better version during the complement with three changes, among them the entry of the coffee forward Luis Muriel, and after warning with a volley from Hans Hateboer after the center of the Argentinean Alejandro Gomez, at 74 minutes he managed to open the Stop ball marker thanks to Rafael Toloi’s header after the corner taken by Ruslan Malinovsky.
With 5 minutes to go, again from the corner kick, after a rejection, Muriel sentenced the game with a corner shot from the crescent and achieved his tenth goal starting from the bench in the 27 games he played in the current season.
With this victory, the Neriazurri chained their ninth consecutive Serie A victory (eleventh if the Champions League matches against Valencia are taken into account) and placed third with 66 units, at least until Inter plays their match against Hellas Verona.
