The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol), through its president Alejandro Domínguez, presented before the Heads of State of Mercosur the detailed protocol for the return of continental competitions.
The Paraguayan leader participated as a special guest in the Presidents’ Summit held this Thursday in virtual form; In it, he released the medical, safety and prevention specifications that the South American entity will apply once soccer resumes on the continent.
“We appreciate the study of the document by the governments. From Conmebol we make this protocol available for the return to soccer in our continent with total security, when the health authorities of the respective countries consider it appropriate, ”said Domínguez.
He added: “The day will come when the risks will be reduced and it will be possible to resume activities that are currently paralyzed. We want to be prepared for that moment. For this reason, a team of experts specially convened by our institution prepared a Protocol for training, travel and competitions. , as well as an Operational Manual of arrivals and departures of flights of football delegations from and to the civil and / or military airports that will be used. ”
According to Télam, in the document of the LVI Summit, the Heads of State highlighted the “commitment to facilitating regional integration and cooperation in sports, through periodic coordination between their States, considering sport, physical activity and recreation as essential elements for the full development of the human being and the promotion of social inclusion “.
Lastly, they highlighted that “they took note of the ‘Vuelta al Fútbol’ Project on International Sports Competitions linked to Conmebol Libertadores 2020, Conmebol Sudamericana 2020, and the Conmebol qualifying rounds for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, an initiative that will continue studying in the competent instances of each State, within the framework of the evaluation of the resumption of regular, safe and orderly sports activity, and respecting the health protocols of each country. ”
