After leading the Portuguese team to the title of the European tournament in 2016, the DT will have the mission of continuing to lead four more years.
In Portugal are happy with the work of Fernando Santos, with what the DT has done in recent years and how it has made the Portuguese team one of the strongest in Europe. That is why the Federation of that country has extended its contract so that it remains in charge until the Eurocup 2024.
The 65-year-old coach took over the team in 2014 and peaked with the title in 2016 by Cristiano Ronaldo in France.
Now, with this extension, the new objectives are the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and Euro 2024. “It is a privilege for me and my coaching staff to continue this project. We know that we cannot win everything, but we will always try”, DT’s words.
Santos holds the record for the Portugal coach with the most wins, having won 44 of the 71 duels he has led.
“It is the privilege to serve Portugal, always with the ambition of ganhar.”
