The top European club competition was shortened due to the pandemic and Leipzig could be favored with this new format.
Leipzig confirmed his place in the next UEFA champions league after finishing in third position in the Bundesliga. However, the Germans still stand in the current season of the European competition and Julian Nagelsmann he does not rule out a surprise from his team.
In a press conference, the technical director commented: “Clearly it is a great challenge for us (playing single game), but it will also be for the teams that are still competing.”
He added: “I am not going to complain because I am very happy that we can participate in the tournament. I think we have a great opportunity because it will never be easier to win the tournament, with only three games.”
Finally, Nagelsmann closed: “It is demanding, but I want us to go and play with the thought that we just need three victories to win the most important trophy in the history of the club.”
