Although they are like water and oil, the two idols of Boca Juniors took advantage of social networks to remember what happened 20 years ago. It is said that little by little the Cold War between them is ending.
In the era of social networks, there are gestures that do not go unnoticed and that can have different interpretations. And the protagonists, on this occasion, were neither more nor less than Martín Palermo and Juan Román Riquelme . Close enemies some time ago, but that as a result of a special date seems to have closed the crack that separated them.
On the occasion of the 20 years of obtaining the Copa Libertadores de Boca Juniors in 2000, the Instagram account “todosobreroman10”, managed by Román’s brother and in charge of spreading news about the club’s vice president, told the testimonies of several ex-colleagues on different moments of the historic feat.
And, of course, Palermo could not miss. Through a video, the former striker recalled the victory over River Plate and sent a greeting to all the fans.
But his appearance on the official JRR account seems more important than anything else, and it signals that the Cold War between two of the club’s top footballers in the past two decades has ended.
