Ceferin remarked that the knockout stages of the Champions League will not undergo modifications, despite the situation in Portugal due to the coronavirus.
The situation in Lisbon due to the Covid-19 returned to become worrying, to the point that in the city they will resume the measure of confinement. However, for the UEFA it will not be an impediment to dispute all the eliminatory keys of the Champions League, starting in the quarterfinals, in the capital of Portugal.
For Alexander Ceferin, UEFA president, “there is no reason to diagram a plan B” with regard to thinking of another venue for the decisive stages of the tournament.
“Participants discussed the fact that this is an unprecedented tournament that presents great challenges, but reinforced their belief that the necessary conditions will be present in Portugal,” the agency added in a statement.
Starting this Wednesday and until July 14, in a part of Lisbon, citizens will return to quarantine after the government decision to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The decisive instances of the Champions, meanwhile, will take place from August 12 to 23.
