ATP after meeting: the final word is from the USTA

More suspense. The ATP communicated to the players that the USTA, before July 31, will make a final decision on whether the circuit will resume in the United States.

This Monday the virtual meeting between the ATP and the players tried to clarify doubts about the return to the circuit, scheduled for August 14 with the tournaments in Washington, Cincinnati and the US Open.

“The final decision is up to the USTA,” Andrea Gaudenzi assured ESPNTenis.com.

The circuit will have another meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, with the coaches. It will be to report issues such as access to the facilities of the Billie Jean King Tennis Center or possible insurance to cover your expenses in case of contracting the coronavirus and being forced to stay two weeks in New York.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio had secured Friday in CNN that the Grand Slam will be held despite the strict quarantine that will govern the US city in September and the cancellation of sporting events.

Defending champion Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, among others, are in doubt for the US Open.
