Pioli: "It has taken time, but we have become a team"

The Milan coach highlighted his team’s present as speculation continues that he will be replaced by Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season.

Stefano Pioli will not allow speculation about his future in Milan tarnish the good moment his team is going through in the A series.

The Rossoneri are on a hitting streak: they are undefeated in seven games since the restart and have won three of the last four matches, which has left them one step away from Europa League positions.

However, the conversation in Milan remains about the possibility that German Ralf Rangnick will take over the team to replace Pioli at the end of the campaign.

“The work we have done is still ongoing,” he told reporters before Saturday’s game against Bologna. “Naturally, this process could not immediately produce results. We have become a team. It has taken time, but that is natural,” he added.

Milan has gone from being a disappointment earlier in the season to a fairly reliable team since soccer resumed after the pandemic. That is demonstrated by recent victories against Juventus and Lazio.

“I think there are a number of different factors that have contributed to the fact that the team is exactly that, a team. We have balance in different positions, with players with different characteristics, we have worked very hard, moving towards new ideas, new positions and a new configuration, “Pioli explained.

“Now that we have become a team, we must stay together, stay together because we are still talking too much about our future, but our present is still too important,” he continued.
