Barcelona has been affected by an increase in coronavirus cases and it remains to be seen if the city can organize a Champions League game scheduled for August 8.
The UEFA confirmed that he would be ready to move away from Camp Nou to the duel between Barcelona and Napoli, in the eighth rematch of Champions, if necessary due to the increase in coronavirus cases in Catalonia.
The governing body of European football is reluctant to change the game to an alternative location, but it has it in its plans for the duel on August 8 if necessary, said its vice president Michele Uva.
“Barcelona-Napoli? Napoli will officially play in Barcelona unless the rules prohibit playing in Spain in the meantime,” he told Italian radio station Radio Punto Nuovo.
“We hope that does not happen and that the second leg matches will be played in the cities they belong to. Obviously there are support solutions,” he added.
An increase in positive tests for COVID-19 in and around Barcelona has led to a local voluntary closure, and residents have been asked to stay home for 15 days.
A plan B for Barcelona-Napoli would be to move the home to Portugal, where UEFA will organize the quarterfinals, semifinals and the final.
