The Argentine defender signed his contract with the Ligue 1 club. He is on loan for one year from Borussia Dortmund.
Olympique de Marseille confirmed on Tuesday the signing of the Argentine defender Leonardo Balerdi, who signed his contract at the club of the Ligue 1 where he will play a year on loan from Borussia Dortmund.
The 20-year-old footballer, born in the Boca Juniors youth academy, will have his second European experience after adding a few minutes in the Bundesliga. When the loan with the Olympics ends, the French club will have the possibility to exercise the purchase option specified in the contract.
“Leonardo will put all his technical quality to allow Olympique de Marseille to achieve his goals this season,” the French institution said in the statement announcing the defender’s signing.

The coach of the Argentine National Team, Lionel Scaloni, had already clarified that if he stayed in Boca he would have had a better chance of dressing the albiceleste. Now, if he sees more action in Ligue 1 than in the Bundesliga, perhaps he will again be considered by DT.
