USTA issued a statement Tuesday, after Washington’s cancellation, to confirm that the idea of the US Open in New York is still in play.
“USTA understands the reasons for canceling the Citi Open,” the US tennis organization opens the statement. “This decision does not impact the US Open or the Western and Southern Open (Cincinnati). The USTA will create a safe and controlled environment for players and everyone involved in both tournaments.”
There are several rumors that the completion or cancellation of the New York Grand Slam would be confirmed next week.
