Toulon announced today the extension of the South African second-line contract Eben Etzebeth for three more seasons.
Although he had one year left on his contract, the club is anticipated and will thus be from Toulon until June 2024.
Coming from Stormers, South Africa, Etzebeth has conquered Mayol’s public since his first appearance in the red and black shirt, and with a try against Clermont, on December 22.
In the long-running sports project desired by Bernard Lemaitre and created by Patrice Collazo and Laurent Emmanuelli, Eben Etzebeth will be one of the club’s key players, responsible for providing his expertise and supervising the promising young players from the training center.
But it was not the only novelty for the team, as it also announced the extension of the link with the head coach, Patrice Collazo, for another four years. Collazo’s career as a coach started at Racing 92 and then joined La Rochelle in 2011. In 2014, he led that team to the Top 14 and later managed to qualify him for the Champions Cup. In 2018 he joined Toulon and in the previous season the pandemic, managed to place the team among the first four of the tournament. Among its managers, it has Ramiro Moyano and Facundo Isa.
