They only needed a victory to continue with chances of qualifying to eighth, but Pavón’s converted penalty ended up leaving the Dynamo out.
Los Angeles Galaxy got the 1-1 draw over the hour before Houston Dynamo for the last meeting of Group F of the tournament of the MLS and both were eliminated.
The Houston franchise started more sharply in the first half, despite not having the ball as much, but found itself with the opening of the scoreboard at 17 minutes, through a free kick executed by the Colombian Darwin Quintero and a null Response from goalkeeper David Bingham.
On the second half, the team of Guillermo Barros Schelotto reacted and had the initiative, but not the precision to finalize until the end of the match, which came with the goal of Argentina’s Cristian Pavon on penalty in time of addition.
Galaxy had to win if it wanted to qualify after the two losses suffered against Portland and LAFC. And the draw robbed Houston of the opportunity to enter the knockout stages, not only as one of the first in the group, but also as one of the top third.
