The Houston team defeated Seattle 8-2 at the start of the MLB season, and with Dusty Baker’s debut as manager.
Houston Astros returned to compete at the start of the regular season of the MLB, after the coronavirus recess and the sanction for the theft of signals, and it was with an 8-2 victory over Seattle Mariners.
Minute Maid Park had been the scene of the loss to the Washington Nationals in October of last year, for the seventh game of the World Series, and in the same place the Astros returned to victory.
Verlander provided six solid innings and was supported by Michael Brantley, who hit a three-run homer to achieve a victory that did not lead to major drawbacks for the Houston team.
Baker took over the Astros after manager AJ Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow were fired for their involvement in the cheat during the 2017 season, and clinched the win in their 3,500th game as manager in the regular season.
