Former F1 driver Gerhard Berger backed the German on his early departure from the Italian team and appreciated his performance at the Hungarian GP.
The stay of Sebastian Vettel as a pilot of Ferrari it is coming to its end. However, its future is still uncertain given the offer of Aston martin and the rumor linking him to Racing Point.
For this reason, it was Gerhard Berger who gave his opinion about the German’s continuity in Formula 1, who also took the opportunity to highlight his performance at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
“Sebastian seems to be completely free from a mental point of view again, it’s as if he wanted to show Ferrari that not extending his contract was a big mistake,” said the Austrian in dialogue with F1 Insider.
In turn, the former driver of the Italian team stressed: “With this bad car, he has no pressure to win. In Hungary he was the old Vettel again, Charles Leclerc had no chance.”
Finally, Berger gave his position on the proximity of Vettel with Racing Point and said: “I have nothing against Sergio Pérez and Lance Stroll, but I think Sebastian would drive to be world champion this year with last year’s Mercedes” .
