Manchester United seeks Champions League qualification against Leicester

On the last date, the Solskjaer team only needs a draw to secure their ticket to the next Champions League.

While Liverpool he was walking calmly towards consecration in the Premier, English football eyes began to look at Manchester United’s comeback on the season. That team that started to falter began to gain places in the classification and now has reached the last date with the possibility of getting into the next Champions League with just a draw against Leicester.

Those led by Ole Gunnar Solsjaer are third in the standings with 63 points and face no less than the fifth, which is one point below and so far goes to the Europa League. Chelsea, fourth in the table and with a ticket to the Champions League, also has 63 units and receives Wolverhampton (59), who will play everything to keep his European place.

But to reach this instance, the Red Devils suffered along the way. They seemed unable to find consistency at the start of the season, which even cast doubt on the Norwegian coach’s task. Earlier this year, defeats against Liverpool and Burnley, both 2-0, left the opportunity to travel the continent far away in 2020/2021.

Since then United did not return to the defeat in the Premier, supported by the rising level of Paul Pogba and the fundamental income in the half of the field of the Portuguese Bruno Fernandes, coming from Sporting Lisboa. His tasks simplified attacking options to give Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial opportunities. A fact exemplifies this: they have 12 games in a row with at least one goal in favor in the tournament.

For his part, Leicester needs to recover after the hard blow against Tottenham, in the 3-0 defeat, and for that he will bet everything on his usual scorer Jamie Vardy, the top scorer until then of the season with 23 goals. However, the center-forward failed to convert in the last two games, against the Spurs and in a 2-0 victory against Sheffield United.
