The teams will compete in an octagonal for three direct places to the World Cup and a place in an intercontinental playoff.
After much waiting, the Concacaf officially announced the classification format for the Qatar World Cup 2022. An octagonal will be played between June 2021 and March 2022 to define the three teams that will obtain their quota, while another team will have the opportunity to play an intercontinental replay.
Mexico, the United States, Jamaica, Honduras and Costa Rica are the five countries that have already confirmed their place in the octagonal. The other three will come out of a previous competition among 30 teams.
The octagonal in question will begin on the FIFA double date of June 2021 and, after 14 team matches, will end in March 2022 with the definition of the countries that will participate in the greatest event in world football.
The teams that occupy the first three places in the table will qualify directly for Qatar 2022, while the fourth will play an intercontinental playoff scheduled for June 2022.
