The Belgian striker is having a great time at Inter, but the coach wants him to be hungrier.
Antonio Conte said Romelu Lukaku can still improve, despite the good performance that the striker showed Inter in his first season in A series. The Belgian has scored 23 league goals since arriving last year from Manchester United, including four in his last five games.
“He is a footballer who has room for improvement. In some game situations, he can and should improve. We are talking about an atypical footballer. Despite his size and strength, he is also fast, with the ability to score goals like that of Genoa in the 93rd minute, “said the coach in dialogue with Inter TV.
And he added: “It depends on him and his desire to improve. The important thing is that each one of us is hungry to raise the bar and try to grow more and more.”
Inter are preparing to play Napoli for the fourth time this season, having faced Partenopei in a two-legged Coppa Italia semi-final. Conte is aware of the threat after being left out of that competition, although he believes that his team’s performance in the second leg, a 1-1 draw, is among the best of the season.
When asked how he enjoyed the league’s 3-1 victory in Naples, the coach said: “It was a good game on our part, but I think that somehow of the three games, perhaps the most beautiful was the second leg at Coppa Italia, where we deserved more “
“But we are talking about a strong team, capable of frustrating those who have won the Scudetto in recent years. They have a very good team and they were impressive in winning the Cup,” he concluded.
