The former Manchester United coach sent a heartfelt message to the German coach and revealed a funny anecdote from the day the Reds were crowned champions.
Alex Ferguson congratulated this Monday to Jurgen Klopp after German took the award for Coach of the Year after winning the Premier League with Liverpool.
“Jurgen, fantastic. We are talking about Leeds rising to the Premier after 16 years, but Liverpool, 30 years since winning the league, is incredible,” the former Manchester United coach told Sky Sports News.
“You fully deserved it, the level of your team was outstanding. Your personality extends throughout the club. It was a wonderful performance,” added the Scotsman, who revealed a funny anecdote with the German.
“I will forgive you for waking me up at 3.30 in the morning to tell me that you had won the league! Thank you, but anyway, you totally deserved it. Well done,” he laughed.
Liverpool stayed this season with its first domestic championship after 30 years. The Reds reached 99 points on the season and finished 18 points above Manchester City.
