Those led by the Argentine Matías Almeyda defeated Real Salt Lake 5-2 and became the fifth team ranked in the round of the best eight.

The team led by Argentina’s Matías Almeyda, who had just won two of the three matches in the group stage (the other was a draw), went ahead on the scoreboard by Argentina’s Cristian Espinoza.
Real Salt Lake matched the actions in that first chapter with a goal from the Honduran Douglas Martinez, but the Quakes were far superior in the complement. There, Almeyda’s pupils scored four goals: Eriksson scored two on penalties, Vako one and Wondolowski the other. For Salt Lake discounted Kreilach.
In San Jose other Argentines were holders: goalkeeper Daniel Vega and striker Andrés Ríos. Meanwhile, in Real Salt Lake the Argentine Pablo Ruiz and the Uruguayan Marcelo Silva came out.
That being the case, San Jose Earthquakes got their ticket to the next instance and now awaits the winner of the key between Columbus Crew and Minnesota United.
