The former Dutch player referred to the level that his compatriot has exhibited in Italy and assured that “he would have learned more in Barcelona”.
Matthijs De Ligt was one of the strengths of the Juventus who became champion of the A series this last Sunday. However, there are also those who do not agree with what the defender exhibited in his first season in Italy.
It is nothing less than Marco Van Basten, former striker for Milan and the Netherlands National Team, who spoke for Ziggo Sport and analyzed the performance of his compatriot.
“I don’t think he has improved much compared to last season with Ajax. It was unfortunate not to have Chiellini by his side. Bonucci does his things but does not guide his teammates,” said Van Basten, who also assured that the Italian championship level has not helped De Ligt’s growth.
“I think I would have learned more in Manchester City, in Real Madrid or Barcelona. Serie A is a lower level than those championships I mentioned. The leagues in Spain, England and Germany are currently better than the Italian one,” he explained.
