Jesse Lingard remembered the Portuguese stage when they were teammates at Manchester United and appreciated his career.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the equivalent of soccer to the basketball legend Michael Jordan, according to the midfielder Jesse Lingard of Manchester United.
When asked by Sky Sports about an equivalent to the winner of six titles with the Chicago Bulls, Lingard was blunt: “I have to say Cristiano Ronaldo. Everything he has accomplished in his career. He has been in many clubs and won many trophies.”
“I think he is a true icon of soccer, the Michael Jordan of soccer,” insisted the player who was part of the United academy during Ronaldo’s time at Old Trafford.
In comparison, five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo has seven league titles in three different countries and most recently helped Juventus clinch their ninth consecutive Scudetto.
“I have played him a number of times. Did he give me trouble? No, it wasn’t that bad, to be fair. There was a game in the preseason where he came in and you could see the skills and qualities he brought,” said Lingard.
“When he first came to Manchester United, I was 11 or 12 years old. We made a skills DVD and he was the one who taught us skills which was good. That was the first time I saw him. He was young and skinny when he came to club, “he recalled.
