After the match against Parma, the Atalanta coach said the Slovenian is likely to miss the Champions League final in Lisbon.
Atalanta could have an important loss for the game against PSG through the quarterfinals of the Champions from August 12. His top scorer in European competition, the Slovenian Josip Ilicic, has not recovered from a muscle injury and would be ruled out for the final phase in Lisbon.
The coach of the Bergamo team, Gianpiero Gasperini, expressed his concern about the injury of his player in the press conference, after the victory on Tuesday against Parma.
“It is unlikely that we will have Josip Ilicic with us in Lisbon for the final phase of the Champions League,” said the Italian coach of the Slovenian midfielder, who has 15 goals in Serie A and 21 goals and 9 assists in all competitions this season.
“The more the days go by, the more difficult it becomes (to recover Ilicic). We were many months without Zapata, now we have another absence at a decisive moment, but the team is supporting Ilicic’s loss well, despite not having another one with its characteristics, “added DT.
Atalanta will play this last match for Serie A against Inter this Saturday before transferring his energies to the Champions League.
