The Manchester United midfielder made a post on social media to explain his situation. “I lost what I was as a player and a person,” he wrote.
Jesse Lingard didn’t have a good season with Manchester United for problems he had off the field, and he admitted it in a publication he made on social networks. The 27-year-old midfielder only started in nine games during the 2019-20 season, the fewest since the 2015-16 season.
“I lost what I was as a player and a person, but I never wanted to give up, I knew who I really was on and off the field. And I knew that being there before allowed me to think about being again. This meant working harder than ever before and trusting around me, who knew how to help me, “Lingard wrote on Instagram.
He added: “I know the fans have been frustrated, but in all this time my love for this club and everyone connected to it has never left me. This team, this club is my family and I will continue to work harder than never to help this team achieve its goals. “
Lingard has only one year left on his contract with United and there were rumors that he could come out in the next transfer window. In January, the midfielder chose Paul Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, who had numerous problems with the Red Devils in the past, to represent him.
