Rafael Nadal trains daily in brick dust and his presence in the US Open is in doubt. In fact, the Spaniard has already confirmed that he will play Madrid, a tournament that begins the day after the US Grand Slam ends.
That is why he was surprised by his name at the Cincinnati Masters 1000 (August 20-28), where the men’s circuit will return. Cincinnati will be played in New York the week before the US Open and it seems unlikely that Nadal will travel from Spain to the United States to play a single tournament.
Will your chances of participating in the US Open go up? Nadal’s presence in the Entry List does not confirm his participation in the tournament although there are other players, such as Gael Monfils or Stan Wawrinka, who have already dropped the possibility of being in Cincinnati.
