The Brazilian club announced the arrival of the historic assistant to Pep Guardiola and that he will take the place of the Portuguese Jorge Jesús.
Domènec Torrent will have his first major challenge of his career when he is announced as the new coach of Flamengo, the reigning champion of the Copa Libertadores de América, with contract until December 2021.
The challenge for the Spanish will be to supplant the Portuguese Jorge Jesús, who not only won the maximum continental title but the South American Recopa, the 2019 Brasileirao and the Brazilian Super Cup of the same year.
The last Torrent experience was in charge of New York City of the MLS, between 2018 and 2019, with a good campaign in numbers. However, his name is linked for being the historical assistant to Pep Guardiola in Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

Even with the departure of Mikel Arteta to Arsenal, from the Guardiola coaching staff, Torrent was linked as a possible return as a collaborator of the City but that place was taken by the Spanish Juan Manuel Lillo.
