The German driver referred to his return to Formula 1 as the substitute for Sergio Pérez, who tested positive for coronavirus before the British GP.
Sergio Pérez’s positive for coronavirus impacted the world of Formula 1, which is well cared for with protocols and sanitary measures. However, the team Racing Point he wasted no time and supplanted it by Niko Hulkenberg.
The German pilot has already made his first laps back to the World Championship in what were the free trials of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Given this, the Teuton could not hide his feelings.
Hulkenberg, who had already raced for Force India, which was formerly Racing Point, in 2012 and then between 2014 and 2016, told the official F1 site: “The last 24 hours were a bit special, crazy and wild.”
And he closed: “We did not have much time because I had to do a test myself. But what mattered today was the program that had to be done. We had a couple or many laps to test, but I feel like I was thrown into the cold water.”
