The defender, who was in Arsenal’s plans, will continue in Germany.
Dayot Upamecano has ended speculation about his future by signing a new contract with Leipzig this Friday that anchors him with the institution until 2023. The 21-year-old defender had been linked to Arsenal, but in the end the German team made him a very good counter-offer that he could not reject.
“I feel at home. Being here is perfect and I am happy to have reached an agreement,” said Upamecano, who was also among Bayer Munich’s plans. In fact, it was learned that the defender spoke with the people of the Bavarian cadre, but that in the end it was all a simple dialogue.
This being the case, Arsenal loses other footballers it had in the pipeline for the next season and will have to look elsewhere, since Mikel Arteta has already said that he wants to reinforce his defense with young blood.
