Despite the request of the Argentine teams, Secretary General Gonzalo Belloso said that “it can no longer be changed for another week.”
The Libertadores Cup It will return on September 15, after a long inactivity due to the coronavirus pandemic, and there is no turning back for a new date change, as planned by Conmebol.
“It is the date that we were able to stretch as much as possible. We will try to meet that date because it can no longer be changed for another week,” said Gonzalo Belloso, current secretary general of the South American body.
Some Argentine teams participating in the tournament had raised the possibility of modifying the restart, but ultimately it will not move from what was established. On Thursday, September 17, it will be the turn of River, Boca, Racing, Defense and Justice and Tigre to present themselves in their respective commitments of the Libertadores.
“These are not risky dates. Since May we have been working with the ten federations with the schedule,” said Belloso, former striker for Rosario Central, Racing, Cobreloa, among various teams.
