Emmanuel Adebayor says that the Merengue team will have a very difficult time against Manchester City this Friday without the scoring power of CR7.
Emmanuel Adebayor, who few remember but played for Real Madrid Almost ten years ago, he spoke this Monday about what comes to meringue: the return match of the round of 16 of the Champions before Manchester City.
The Whites lost the first leg 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu, so they will have to go to win England. The Togolese footballer says that Zinedine Zidane’s team will not have it easy, and explained that he would have more hope in his former team if the Merengues still had Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks.
“If they had asked me that question two years ago, when Cristiano was still in Madrid, I would have said yes, that they could do it,” said Adebayor, consulted by the AS newspaper on whether the merengue team can turn the tie around.
“Madrid would be a favorite with Cristiano. Back then, they had CR7, which is a goal-scoring machine. It can make a difference at any time,” he added.
Although he acknowledges that the scenario is not at all favorable, Adebayor has not yet seen Zidane’s team out of the competition.
“Madrid lost the first leg at home and it will be very difficult without the fans, against Manchester City, in another city, different weather, but it is not impossible. Madrid has players with a lot of experience like Marcelo, [Karim] Benzema, [Thibaut] Courtois and they are used to playing in big games like this, “he explained.
