The Head Coach of the Irish British team, currently under the command of Chiefs in Super Rugby Aotearoa, assured that the former England coach could join the technical group for next year.
Lancaster was the coach of the English national team during the 2015 World Cup and Gatland told Sky Sports that they met and shared many aspects of the game.
The current Leinster coach would be a great contribution to Gatland considering his affinity with the Irish players.
“I’ve had a couple of conversations with him, but there are a number of other people that I’m going to look at and talk to, and the first step is to get clarity from the unions and the clubs.”
Gatland also referred to the sporting state with which Itoje, Farrell and other Saracens players will find themselves due to the decline of the club but affirmed that it does not concern them and that they will not lose level of play.
“We understand that maybe playing in the second division is not going to be on the same level, but we hope that those players will get a significant amount of international rugby between now and the Lions tour but their experience is very big so I don’t think the affect. “
