The Chinese golfer closed the day at the top of the championship, while Tommy Fleetwood also had a good card, although not to catch up with the Asian.
The second round blind was pulled down in the US PGA Championship and, with a great performance, Li Haotong finished in the first position of the general table, just two strokes ahead of Tommy Fleetwood.
The Asian golfer was the man to catch, as he finished a round of 65 flawlessly, with four Birdies putting him ahead of everyone. However, the American closed a day of six under par with a 64 that is added to the 70 of the previous day.
On the other hand, Brendon Todd, who had claimed the lead for a moment with Jason Day, fell three shots short of pace. Harold Varner III and compatriot Brandt Snedeker scored 66 apiece to move within the projected cut of one more, level with Bryson DeChambeau at two-under.
Jon Rahm finished tied for 36th to one behind, while Phil Mickelson managed to get ahead of shortstop after 69 in the second round.
