The goalkeeper of the Bergamo box will be out in the quarter-final duel in Lisbon.
While Atalanta is this season’s revelation team in Europe, there is something that became clear in the last days of the A series, in which he did not have the expected auction: when some key chips are missing it feels a lot. That is why the absence of Josip Ilicic was crucial for Gian Piero Gasperini, that now he will have to deal with another casualty, that of his goalkeeper Gianluigi Gollini.
The club confirmed that the goalkeeper suffered a subtotal rupture of the cruciate ligament in his right knee, making it impossible for him to be in Lisbon this Wednesday against PSG for the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
Gollini was injured on Saturday last week and after the rigorous tests (an MRI) the bad news was known.
Now, Gasperini will have to play it for Marco Sportiello, who will have the responsibility of keeping his goal at zero against one of the most offensive rivals that could be had (Neymar and Kylian Mbappé in attack).
