The Vecchia Signora technical director tried to see the bright side by emphasizing Juventus’ victory outside the context of being left out of the Champions League.
Maurizio Sarri regretted the removal of the Champions League despite the victory of Juventus before Lyon. The coach of the Turin team remarked that he was happy with the performance of his team, although he was not enough to pass the phase.
“Tonight we had a great game, the penalty could have driven us crazy, but we drew, we got ahead and with 2-1 we created three or four chances,” Sarri told the media.
He added: “If I was not morally devastated by the elimination, I would be happy with the performance tonight, because we put out a lot of energy, the team responded with character and showed that they have regenerated in recent days.”
Finally, Sarri stressed: “Last week, Lyon in 120 minutes against PSG never had as many problems as tonight. With everything that happened it was not easy to reach the top at this time, but I think the team responded well anyway”.
