Nick Kyrgios said he was not surprised by Rafael Nadal’s decision to miss out on the tour of the United States, where the Cincinnati Masters 1000 and the US Open will be played.
“I was not surprised by Rafa’s decision. I think he is focused on Roland Garros and if I played this year, I would probably prefer to go to Europe at this time of year with things that are happening,” said the Australian in statements reproduced by Tennis World.
The current 40th in the world said that he will use this time to “be at home, train, be with my family, friends and I will act responsibly hoping that the circumstances to play improve.”
“I’m not even sure the Australian Open will be played. With the pandemic in Melbourne, I heard 700 new ones on the radio, we reached new peaks in deaths. These are sad times in Melbourne,” closed the six ATP title champion.
