With Riquelme leading the negotiation, Xeneize is very close to closing its first reinforcement: it would be the return of the Colombian on loan for one year.
Although his last image was not the best, the passage of Edwin cardona left a good feeling in Mouth: in a direct team like that of Guillermo Barros Schelotto, the Colombian was one of the few who had something different to contribute. And to Juan roman riquelme, a great connoisseur of that function, it was always a weakness. “I am fascinated by how he plays. I feel identified,” he had said in 2018. Therefore, although in January they could not agree, the coffee grower is once again the main target to reinforce the squad after the stoppage due to the coronavirus.
After a last semester in which he played little and nothing at the hands of the Twin, Cardona left for Mexico, where he did not have much activity either. He signed an acceptable stage in Pachuca, but at the beginning of 2020 he went to Tijuana, where he only played a handful of minutes in seven games and did not score goals. Thus, Pablo Guede, the coach of the Xolos, has already warned him that he will not take it into account for what is coming and the doors of Boca were opened wide again.
The obstacle for now is the uncertain economic reality that Argentine soccer faces after almost five months of having slowed down the activity and with a value for the dollar that seems impossible to match that of the Mexican market. With the termination of the contract ruled out, the only option that Román is considering, who also heads the negotiations with Pachuca and Monterrey -the owners of his file-, is a loan for one year, which would allow Edwin to dispute the second part of the Copa Libertadores this year and the first one to come. And in case everything goes well, sit down again in June 2021 to try to extend the loan.
With Silvio Romero on standby and with Cecilio Domínguez about to close his move to MLS, the coffee midfielder could be the first reinforcement for Russo and company.
