The president of the FFF remains convinced that suspending Ligue 1 was the right decision and allowed the clubs to reach the Champions League in the best possible way.
Noël Le Graët defended once again the decision to permanently suspend the League 1 in April. The president of the FFF (French Football Federation) he even considered that this allowed PSG and Lyon, the two French clubs still participating in the Champions, arrive with more rest to the final part of the season.
“The two teams played at a very high level. Lyon were exceptional against City and the PSG players showed that they had an unshakable physical condition and morals. It is well deserved for our two clubs,” said the manager for the Parisien newspaper. .
On the decision to suspend the league, he indicated: “We cannot say that everyone was happy not to play, but it is clear that they managed to prepare very well. PSG and Lyon have taken advantage of the break and implemented a second cycle of exemplary physical preparation. And, mentally and technically, they have nothing to envy anyone, they did very well ”.
On the semi-final clashes to come, Le Graët commented: “Few people would have bet on Lyon’s victory on Saturday. PSG’s victory is perhaps less of a surprise. But I found both teams to match, very well organized. You can imagine that they will prepare well for their semi-finals, so who knows what will happen. “
