Commissioner Adam Silver praised the idea of playing a playoff for a playoff spot, which was recently applied in the bubble in Orlando.
Portland Trail Blazers managed to get into the playoffs in a heads up with Memphis Grizzlies, in the unprecedented play-in format in the NBA that could be kept for future seasons.
“I see this as something that we will adopt in the future. As you all know, it is something that I have been talking about for some time,” Commissioner Adam Silver told Sports Illustrated, regarding the playoff implemented during the bubble at the Walt Disney World complex.
The NBA ordered that this weekend the last place of the Western Conference be decided in a play-in and now Portland will have to face the Los Angeles Lakers in the series starting this Monday.
“We saw this as an opportunity to integrate it and see how it worked. I am not sure if we will continue with this exact format in the future, but it is something that I would like to see it remain as part of the seasons,” clarified Silver.
