With doublets from Lautaro and Lukaku, the Italian team defeated Shakhtar Donetsk 5-0 at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf.
Inter de Milan rose to the occasion and confirmed his good moment with a 5-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk, at Merkur Spiel-Arena from Dusseldorf. Lautaro Martinez and Romelu lukaku scored two goals each and the remainder was scored by Danilo D’Ambrosio. The Italian team will face Seville on Friday at the end of the Europa League.
The match was slow and boring at the beginning, and Antonio Conte’s team took advantage of the first arrival to open the scoring. Nicolo Barella sent a perfect cross from the right and the Argentine forward headed in to make it 1-0 in the 19th minute.
The Ukrainian champions went out to seek equality and made room for the Nerazzurri’s counterattack, who had the opportunity to increase the advantage with a shot from Barella that was well covered by goalkeeper Andrij Pyatov. Shakhtar’s clearest chance before the break was Marcos Antonio’s mid-range shot that escaped over the crossbar.
Inter did not speculate at the start of the second half and showed clear intentions to define the game with two consecutive shots from Lautaro, both covered by the goalkeeper, and a right hand from Lukaku that came close to the right post.
Junior Moraes was close to equalizing the match with a header saved by Samir Handanovic, and on the next play it was 2-0, also from the air. D’Ambrosio hit a corner kick and stretched the gap in the 64th minute.
Lautaro Martínez was in charge of making it 3-0 with a quarter of an hour to go before the final whistle and then enabled Lukaku to score the fourth. The same Belgian defined between the legs of the goalkeeper at 84 ‘to decree the final 5-0.
Nerazurri return to a European final after ten years and will try to win the title when they meet Sevilla on Friday 21 August at the Rhein Energie Stadium in Cologne, Germany.
