Brumbies young winger Tom Wright secured one more season at the Brumbies following his 2018 addition from rugby league. The player will continue in Canberra, as he signed with his club and the Australian union to extend their relationship for another year.
The 23-year-old back stated on the Brumbies website that “I enjoy every minute at the club and I have a very good relationship with my teammates, so being here for another year is incredible. Now I can focus on playing for the club and doing my best for the team and achieving our goal which is to win Super Rugby AU. I plan to be in Canberra for a long time. “
Wright has scored six tries in his nine appearances in 2020 and Brumbies coach Dan McKellar said: “We are very happy that Tom will be staying with our group next season. He had a real game changer, he can open a defense at any time and his talent on the court and how he behaves off it is really positive for our group and club. “
For his part, the Director of Rugby Australia, Scott Johnson, said that “Tom had an excellent season with the Brumbies in the last 18 months and did not go unnoticed by the Wallabies coaches. However, nothing is guaranteed around future honors and Tom is fully aware that he has to keep pushing and working hard to win that gold jersey. Tom is part of a very young and exciting talent pool and his commitment is a sign of a bright future for Australian rugby. “
