Hurricanes and New Zealand Rugby confirmed the Jackson Garden-Bachop renewal until the end of 2021.
The 25-year-old joined the Hurricanes in 2018, after playing a crucial role in the Wellington Lions’ 10 Miter Cup victory the year before.
“Being from Hurricanes is something I always dreamed of. Being able to do it in the same shirt that Dad was wearing is hugely special and something I’m very proud of. “
Since his debut against the Jaguars two years ago, Garden-Bachop has played 17 games in the Hurricanes jersey and has assumed a regular starting role throughout the 2020 season.
While Super Rugby Aotearoa may have been a formative season for emerging talent, Garden-Bachop hopes their good form will continue into the upcoming season.
“I just want to keep growing as a person and as a player. Whether I’m number 10 or 22, I want to make sure the guys see me working to improve all the time. If I’m a starter, I want to guide the team through the field with confidence. “
