The Croatian defender pointed out that in a match against Spain he hit the Real Madrid defender to remember what happened in the 2018 Champions final.
On May 26, 2018, in the final of the Champions League, Real Madrid was consecrated in front of Liverpool but one move was emblematic: Sergio Ramos struggled with Mohamed salah at the start of the game and caused the injury of the Egyptian who took him off the field. Since that day, the defender Dejan Lovren he did not forgive his Spanish colleague.
Interviewed by ‘Sada El Balad’ television, Lovren admitted that he voluntarily beat Ramos during a Nations League Croatia-Spain in November 2018.
“Did I deliberately hit him for the trouble he caused Salah? Yes, it’s possible. Modric tried to let the tension between Ramos and me go down, but I deliberately hit him with an elbow and told him the scores were even,” he noted. .
“As a player I admire him, but he has behaviors that I don’t like and that hurt his opponents. I don’t want to create a case, but I think Ramos intentionally injured Salah and therefore he had to pay for what he did,” Lovren said.
In addition, he recalled that in that final “we were playing much better than Real Madrid before Salah was injured, his departure from the field was a hard blow for us.”
Lovren, who recently joined Zenit in Russia, was even disqualified from a UEFA match in January 2019 for publicly insulting Ramos during a live Instagram that began right after the famous Croatia-Spain.
