Roland Garros, with an audience or without an audience?

Roland Garros 2020 will not be another edition and not only because of the change of date, pandemic through, which took it out of its traditional Parisian summer.

The French Tennis Federation (FFT) came across the statements of the French Prime Minister, Jean Castex, in which he limits the maximum capacity that could be given in the tournament to 5,000 spectators per day, and does not rule out having to play behind closed doors by the inexorable advance of COVID-19 in the French capital.

“You can review the withdrawal of established people and the authorities reserve the right to, in the worst case, force the dispute of the tournament without an audience,” he said to the dissatisfaction of the organizers.

Meetings are planned in the coming days to see if that number will be only at the Philippe Chatrier stadium, and another amount is established for the rest of the fields, since the tournament had expectations of being able to sell between 50% and 60% of the tickets.
