The former All Blacks captain will be Counties Manukau’s eighth starter against Tasman, while the great wing who comes from playing in the French Top 14 will do so in Wellington against Waikato.
Counties Manukau will have in its ranks the great Kieran Read. In addition, those called up by the All Blacks Dalton Papalii, Lydon Dunshea and Nepo Laulala will be the starters.
For its part, Tasman, who will be the rival of Read’s team, will be played by the young Will Jordan, Sevu Reece, Shannon Frizell, Isi Tu’ungafasi and Mark Telea, among other players who played Super Rugby.
Wellington will have a truly all-star team. Julian Savea returns to play in New Zealand and will do so with his brother Ardie. In addition, Billy Proctor, Vince Aso, TJ Perenara, Du’Plessis Kirifi, Vaea Fifita, Alex Fidow and Asafo Aumua will play against Waikato.
For its part, Waikato is not far behind. The cast that will play the venue has figures such as Liam Messam, Adam Thomson, Anton Lienert-Brown and Damian McKenzie on their roster.
The competition will begin on Friday with the match between North Harbor and Canterbury. On Saturday the duels between Waikato-Wellington, Otago-Auckland and Counties Manukau-Tasman will be played. Finally, on Sunday Northland-Manawatu, Taranaki-Bay of Plenty and Southland-Hawke’s Bay will end the first day.
