After three weeks without activity, the World Cup MotoGP he started the motorcycles again. This time at the Marco Simoncelli circuit in Misano, the San Marino Grand Prix will be held. With the particularity that the track’s asphalt is new, the riders had to get to know the track again. However, nothing stopped them from recording good times.
Maverick Viñales was able to recover from the hard accident he had in the last race, which was held in Austria. The Spaniard had run out of brakes and had to jump off the bike, causing it to catch fire. Viñales took the fastest lap of the first round of the weekend, ahead of the leader of the championship, Fabio Quartararo. Both riders will be teammates next year, after Valentino Rossi confirmed his departure to the Yamaha satellite team
Aleix Espargaró finished in third position, surprising with his pace on the track, remaining seven tenths behind the leader Viñales. On this occasion, the times did have a greater relevance than other tests. The leader of the batch finished just 6 tenths behind the Italian track record. In the second session you will probably see better times compared to the first.
Outside the top three was Johann Zarco. The Frenchman continues to show that he is ready to fight the big teams with his Ducati. For his part, Bradley Smith finished in fifth position, showing that any rider on the grid is ready to fight big things. The Brit is replacing Andrea Iannone, who is suspended after testing positive for steroids in December 2019.
Cal Crutchlow, who in recent days had an operation on his forearm as he showed (crudely) on his social networks, had a great day finishing in eighth position, very close to the first position on Friday morning. In the next few hours the second session will take place, waiting for better times.
