After SANZAAR announced that the 2020 Rugby Championship will be played in Australia, New Zealand made it official that, in the run-up to that competition, it will host the Bledisloe Cup, which will consist of two matches between the All Blacks and the Wallabies and will be played during October.
“Those two games will be great for our fans. We know that the Bledisloe Cup is a true reflection of the rivalry between the two teams and there will be a lot of anticipation,” said New Zealand Rugby CEO Mark Robinson.
On the other hand, the representative of the entity that regulates rugby in New Zealand also referred to the change of headquarters of the RC: “Obviously, we are disappointed by the decision not to have NZ as host of the tournament, but we understand and accept it. Now that the decision has been made, we hope to see the All Blacks again taking on the best teams in the Southern Hemisphere. “
He added: “We work hard between SANZAAR and the New Zealand government to make sure we are ready to host the Rugby Championship and although it couldn’t, we would like to thank all parties involved for working so hard.”
Both the exact dates of the commitments and their venues and times will be announced during the next few hours.
