September 11 is not another date for the United States. In 2001 a terrorist attack paralyzed the world and took the lives of 2,996 people in the fall of the Twin Towers. 19 years after the sad event, the NBA triumphed the heroes of that fateful New York morning.
In the lead up to Game 6 of the series between the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers, the players did a minute of silence to honor the nearly three thousand innocents who perished. With a video, the league also paid tribute to first responders.
“A tribute is paid to the thousands of innocent victims who lost their lives and a special thanks is given to the heroic first responders who put themselves in danger on September 11, 2001. The NBA seizes this moment to remember, reflect and honor these brave men and women“, was the message that the league published.
