Leeds United, coached by Argentine Marcelo Bielsa, was eliminated this Wednesday in the English League Cup at the hands of Hull City of League One (English Third Division), after drawing 1-1 in the ninety minutes and falling by 9- 8 in a dramatic penalty shootout.
A goal from Mallik Wilks in the first half condemned Leeds, who started with many substitutes and young players and had to come back.
The one who did start was the star signing of the Whites this summer, Rodrigo Moreno, who was unable to launch his scoring account on Elland Road.
The one who got the tie in the last gasp was Ezgjan Alioski, with a goal in the 93rd minute that sent the game directly to penalties.
Rodrigo was the first to score for Bielsa’s team, but Leeds was eliminated after twenty pitches, with Jamie Shackleton’s failure.
This loss is the second in a row this season for Leeds, after falling on their Premier League debut, albeit giving a good image, to defending champion Liverpoool.
