The Roland Garros organization revealed the sanitary measures that will be taken to carry out the tournament.
The players will be divided and will stay in two hotels that will be exclusively for athletes and tourists will not be allowed in. The top 60 in the ranking will do so at the Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel, while the rest, including those who play the doubles and those in the preliminary phase, have the Novotel Paris Tour Eiffel at their service.
With regard to practice, the tennis players will have the Roland Garros facilities available only on match day. If not, there will be the possibility of going to the Jean Bouin center, where the players can train without problems.
The tennis players who compete in the qualifying phase must arrive in Paris four days before starting to compete and they will have two PCR tests, one upon arrival and the other 48 hours later. Those who are already in the main draw will do the same. During the course of the tournament and to remain in it, the players will be tested every five days.
If there is a positive case of Covid-19, that player will be automatically eliminated from Roland Garros and will be forced to quarantine for two weeks in the hotel room. In turn, the organization issued a statement advising against tennis players sharing rooms, in order to avoid multiple infections. If a member of a player’s coaching staff tests positive, the athlete will be tested. If it is also positive, it will be eliminated from the contest. If negative, it will be followed closely.
If a tennis player does not comply with the social distancing rule and shares a room with a positive, he will be disqualified for breaking said rule. Those who compete in the singles tournament will have two accreditations, while those of doubles, juniors and participants of the previous phase only one.
