Djokovic beat Ruud and is a finalist in Rome

In a high-level match, Novak Djokovic defeated Casper Ruud 7-5, 6-3 to reach the grand final of the Masters 1000 in Rome, in search of a new title in his career.

In the first set, the Norwegian went ahead by breaking the Serbian’s starter, but the world number one recovered with a good performance. Ruud had the great chance to stay with the set with his serve, but Nole had nerves of steel and took a fantastic drop from the gallery to reach the service of his rival and direct the initial set.

Already in the second set, Djokovic showed off all kinds of points to show his superiority with the Norwegian and achieve the triumph that deposited him in the grand final of the Masters 1000 in Rome.

In this way, the world number one reached his tenth final in this tournament, of which he obtained four victories and five defeats. In 2008 he beat Wawrinka, in 2011 and 2014 he did the same with Nadal and in 2015 he defeated Federer. The defeats were against Nadal (2009, 2012 and 2019), Murray (2016) and Zverev (2017).
